Repeated journeys help tram advertising build stronger message retention. As trams follow familiar routes through city centres and residential areas, campaigns return to view throughout the day, creating regular exposure among passengers and street level audiences.
That visibility comes with significant scale. England's tram and light rail networks recorded 231.2 million passenger journeys in 2024/25, while Manchester Metrolink reached a record 46 million journeys, up 9.5% year on year. These networks connect major urban markets including Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield and south London.
Tram audiences also have a strong commercial profile. Industry data indicates 65% of passengers work in professional or managerial occupations and 50% are aged 16 to 34, giving brands access to a younger, working audience through wraps, Supersides, interior media and stop advertising.
